Learning WellEnablesNewer &Greater Understanding
Located 1.5 km outside of Monze town, the school is situated in a very serene and secure environment.  Students and parents love it.

The word "LWENGU", means "SABLE ANTELOPE" in the Zambian language of TONGA.  This proud animal symbolizes independence, strength and individuality - three qualities we like to engender in our students.

In addition to the  core subjects, the school offers computer lessons.  It also has a variety of clubs catering to those students who have a taste for chess, maths, boy scouts,  science, culture, chongololo, culture and crafts.   There is  an extensive library which is  rich in story and reference books.

Shatis and Joyce Vlahakis feel that no education is complete without an emphasis Nature Conservation. That is why LWENGU dedicates part of its curriculum to teaching students a keen environmental awareness.  This is achieved by engaging them actively in nature conservation.  And it is partly why the Vlahakis' have named their school after the magnificent and rare Sable Antelope.

Every term, the school runs field trips to a places of education  interest, which include regular visits to two of Zambia's finest national parks, KAFUE and LOCHINVAR, located on the school's doorstep.  Shatis Vlahakis, co-founder of LWENGU, is an honorary game ranger, and knows these parks like the back of his hand.

And as for sports, LWENGU is unequalled. On the extensive playing fields, LWENGU conducts a highly motivational athletic programme, which includes football, volleyball,  netball and basketball.

The school is run by very experienced and highly qualified staff.  These educational professionals are carefully chosen to ensure that the school's highest standards are maintained. Through ISAZ, LWENGU interacts with other private schools in Zambia.

The school hostels are made up of a complex of houses that are maintained to the highest standards.  They are extremely comfortable and roomy and have a  warm and homely atmosphere.   One of the resident matrons is a qualified nurse and the other is a qualified teacher. Both are very experienced in looking after children. The two matrons are assisted by laundry and kitchen personnel. A carefully varied and well balanced diet keeps the children very healthy and happy.
